I watch her out of the corner of my eye as she helps Josie pack and I can see the concern she has for her friend. The heart on this girl is the reason I fell in love with her. She is always so worried about everyone else. As we finish packing, Josie and Isabelle carry the last of the boxes out while Carter and I grab what furniture Josie wants to bring with her. Helping Carter carry the dresser out of the apartment, I see Jack grab Isabelle’s hand. Isabelle’s eyes narrow as she looks at him. He pulls her aside, whispering something to her. I can’t make out what he is saying to her and I hope that he doesn’t tell her the truth before I have a chance to.

We load the dresser in the back of Carter’s truck as Isabelle walks out of the door with a hand rubbing her forehead. “Everything ok, Princess?” I ask. She flashes her beautiful smile but it doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “Fine.” She opens my truck door and gets in without saying another word.

After making sure everything in the back of the trucks is secure, I slide into the driver’s seat. Isabelle has her elbow on the window and her fingers are rubbing her forehead, she is in deep thought. “Isabelle, what’s wrong? Did Jack say something to upset you?” I’m nervous about what he may have said. Did he tell her? Will this be the end? She looks at me, giving me a half smile “No, its fine.” She leans over giving me a quick kiss on the lips. “Let’s just get out of here.”

The ride back is quiet and it worries me that Jack told her about me before I had the chance to. Keeping the secret from her is killing me, but I’m being selfish. Once she knows the truth, the fact that I cannot give her the life she deserves, I will lose her forever. I need her, even if it’s only temporary. I know I have to tell her before she hears it from someone else. I don’t want to lose her over a stupid mistake, but after she learns the truth, I can’t expect her to stay. She turns up the radio when Jason Aldean’s “The Only Way I Know” song starts. She starts bouncing around in my truck, smiling and singing along to one of her favorite songs.

It takes a few hours to unload Josie’s things and get her settled into her room. Isabelle is quiet, I can tell whatever Jack said to her is weighing on her mind. I know that I need to talk to her because if she knows, then I need to try and explain. Will she give me another chance? Will she understand? Or will I lose her forever? I walk up behind her and hug her, nipping at her ear. She moves her head to give me access as I nibble down her neck. My phone vibrates in my pocket and I feel her suddenly tense and pull away.
